The weekly updates on the progress are recorded as follows:
Week 1
As per the instruction by the Tutor, week 1 one was completely about discussion and finalising of the Punch tool to select.
After a team discussion, we finalised our choice and we had built a rough sketch on the dimensions. The over all discussion were finally shown to our Tutor - choice of dimension, design, etc.
Further suggestions were noted down and bored in mind while working.
Please put pointers over the image for descriptions.

Week 2
Once the rough sketch was finalised, the team members were asked to make a proper Orthographic drawing of the Design.
A rough drawing on SolidWorks have been made in order to have a better understanding of the whole design and extensive research were carried out on the dimensioning which in turn allowed us to make an accurate drawing.
Once the dimensions were finalised, proper individual orthographic drawings were made including the dimensions following with the standards.

Week 3
The following week was about completing individual design on SolidWorks.
The following Gallery slides shows the individual designs made individually by the Team members.

Simultaneously, working on the 3D modelling on Solidworks, we have also learned the manufacturing processes carried out to build a centre punch.
For the manufacturing process, please click the button given below.
Week 4
After submission of all the documents, the tutor has asked us to do brief research on what tools were necessary on a typical lathe machine to get the desired shape and dimension of the design of our specimen.
The details were given on the research part of the blog. You can click the button below and visit the bottom section of the page to read further information.

Week 5
After all the understanding and knowledge gained regarding the tools and machine used for manufacturing, we have set off for manufacturing.
It was one small Engineering Industry in Ras Al Khaimah, containing all the machines required for manufacturing the Centre Punch.
The visit to the industry and some pictures of the progress made has been shown below.

Week 6
To have better quality of the tool in terms of material structure, heat treatment was required. Before we can apply heat treatment, we researched on this topic at this week so we can apply the heat treatment to specimen.
The details of the Heat treatment can be found by clicking on the button below, and going on the Heat Treatment section of the page.
Week 7
This week was to carry out the Heat Treatment as well as Testing of the materials.
The material undego Hardening followed by quenching and then tempering.
The images were shown below.

At the same day itself, we have carried out the testing of the punch.
A thick metal surface was given to us where we had to hit and put a mark on the given on the metal surface.
The images were shown below.
